Fashion Week, the second most wonderful time of the year for Fashionistas, is also one of the most anticipated, chaotic and anxiety ridden event for designers. Held twice a year in New York City, the home of Fashion Week will soon be relocated from Bryant Park to the historical landmark of Lincoln Center. So before we say farewell to the familiar white tents, we decided to take you behind the scene and give you a glimpse of what goes on before and after the show, the chaos in the photographers' pit, and the crowd that makes this event so unique and memorable.

Even in the midst of an economically challenging time, the designers and attendees still made Fashion Week, Spring 2010, a celebration of fashion, hope and a renewed spirit. We loved the well-constructed silk dresses at Ports 1961, sexy, body sculpting pieces at Yigal Azrouel:

Radiant colors at Zac Posen, soft and elegant silhouettes at Doo.Ri, ultra-feminine dresses at Tadashi Shoji, beautiful ruffles at Cynthia Steffe, liquid metallics at Jill Stuart, earthtone ensembles at Nanette Lepore, glamorous looks at Chadwick Bell:

And the one show that never disappoints anyone; especially the photographers, is none other than Gottex:

Spotlight on: Eric Kim of the Monarchy Collection
Interview by Nancy Moran
This season, we discovered a new designer from LA - Eric Kim of the Monarchy Collection. Known for its unique graphic designs and quality denim construction for both men and women, Monarchy has been coveted by celebrities including Jeremy Piven, Usher and Jessica Biel. For his second Fashion Week show in NYC, Eric brought back the classic, preppy style of cardigans and neutral tones, and infused them seamlessly with a laid back, west coast sensibility. This collection undoubtedly evoked a sense of breezy yet polished feel that is perfect for a resort vacation.
Looking relaxed in a casual black blazer, Eric was very excited about being back in NYC's Fashion Week. He enjoys the energy of the city, the kindness of New Yorkers, and the challenge of putting out better collections season after season. A Korean American born and raised in Los Angeles, Eric loves working with cashmere wool, experimenting with different garment constructions, and riding motorcycles. When I asked him about how he's thriving in the tough economic climate, he simply stated "keep focusing on doing what you love and don't give up, keep going and do not let external factors get in the way of achieving your goals."
